Attic Finds Auction

Bob & Sallie Connelly will conduct an Attic Finds Auction at the Showplace in Binghamton on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 11:00 am with a preview at 9:00 am. Most of the items in this auction were found in local attics. All of the items are selling without reserve AS IS (No Refunds, No Returns) at a 10% buyers premium.

Some of the items featured in this auction (see slideshow) include an 1875 child's high wheel stroller, surrey type, with wagon pin striping; a 20" Halloween felt pumpkin man doll; a mohair, windup toy camel with Arab rider, "Occupied Japan"; a 32" wooden gambling wheel; an 1880 Brainerd & Armstrong Co. walnut spool cabinet with Seth Thomas clock, as found; a Waterbury crystal regulator clock; a 3-gallon White of Binghamton stoneware jug with double cabbage rose; a Phoenix glass banquet lamp with molded oak leaf pattern; a large earthenware portrait and frame sculpture of Ferdinand Perrone, 1817-1908 (Count of the Holy Roman Empire) by Paul Giacobbe [with family provenance]; and two oil paintings on paper (one pictured) signed "18 J over H 73," attributed to James Hayllar, British 1829-1920 in outstanding matched frames with marquetry.

021311auction Other unique items include as a Horner/Hotz/Pohl oak harmonica store display case; a cast iron spring loaded double rooster shooting gallery target; a People's semi-circular typewriter, invented by C. Sjoberg of Brooklyn; a box of 1953 Boy Scout uniforms; a $10 Hawaii bill, 1942 special World War II Federal Reserve note that could be declared worthless in case of Japanese invasion; fish and birds carved by Fred Plaumann; and a barber chair by Theo A. Kochs with three headrests.

The auction also includes clocks, including an Ephraim Downes Pillar & Scroll and a Birge, Mallory & Co triple Decker with brass movement, both as found; an 18" Gilbert gallery; and a Mission oak mantle clock with slag glass inserts; dolls, as found including a 24" mohair rabbit, dressed for Easter; 22" 550 and 570 Simon & Halbig dolls; and six early mohair Teddy Bears, including one with a head that rotates; artwork, including a portfolio of twelve 1968 diptych etchings, 24.5" X 37.5," by Michael Mazur, American 1939-2009, signed and inscribed in pencil; three large iron sculptures by Marco; an oil by Edward Mack Curtis Hawkins (Ithaca, 1877-?); and a naïve oval portrait of a young girl, on panel; and baseball memorabilia, including a 1956 World Series program from Don Larsen's perfect game; a 1956 Yankees yearbook, autographed by Mel Allen; and early college photographs, circa 1870, of an athletic field with two baseball games underway and of students, professors and a building.
