Antique Estates Auction: 9 July 2006

Bob & Sallie Connelly will conduct an Antique Estates Auction at the Showplace in Binghamton on Sunday, July 09, 2006 at noon, with a preview at 10:00 a.m. Selling without reserve are 100 hummels (list with order of sale: PDF, 146kb); furniture, including a footstool attributed to Stickley (photo), five bookcases, and a pair of twin rosewood beds; glassware and china, including a 10" Roseville Bayberry Jardinière with stand (photo left), seven Bisque Piano Babies, and five shaving mugs; accessories, including trunks and an 1830 leather fireman's water bucket; and lamps, including six china stem and twenty oil lamps. Free Appraisal Clinic During July Fest 2006

Binghamton's 44th annual July Fest takes place this year on Friday, July 7, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Court Street will be closed to traffic between Boscov's and the Courthouse for the popular arts and music festival. Visitors will enjoy artists-in-action, arts & crafts booths, fine art exhibits, children's activities, live music featuring Splash and the Morgan String Band, an antique car show, food vendors and more. And best of all, our own Bob Connelly will conduct a free Appraisal Clinic for antiques and collectibles on both Friday and Saturday. Art Walk Exhibit: Expressions in Hardwood

As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk -- and as part of July Fest, Downtown Binghamton's Arts and Music Festival -- the Connelly Gallery at 205 State St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will hold an exhibit and sale of wood sculpture by local artist, Charles M. Hoffman beginning Friday, July 7, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Opening night guests will be treated to mini-massages by Licensed Massage Therapist Suzy Williams from Body Bliss Massage Therapy. The exhibit and sale of wood carvings by Charles Hoffman will continue through July 28, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at other times by appointment (Telephone: 607-722-9593).

The son of a carpenter, Charles M. Hoffman, who was educated at the University of Connecticut, developed an aesthetic appreciation of wood at an early age. Perhaps his 25-year career marketing high quality, specialty millwork helped develop his artistic sensibility, but it wasn't until the late 1970s that his passion for wood sculpting took off with the gift of a chisel set from his wife Sally. Today, his carvings, like those on exhibit and for sale in the Gallery, exploit the natural beauty of his medium -- wood. Bob & Sallie Connelly will conduct an Estates Auction at the Showplace in Binghamton on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 6:00 p.m., with a preview at 5:00 p.m. Selling without reserve are furniture, including desks, tables, and a folk art hanging cupboard; glassware, including Victorian tumblers and bowls, and Wade figures; accessories, including Hummels, postcards, Satsuma vases, and boxes of books; four clocks, including a 3-weight German cuckoo; and miscellaneous items, including kitchen appliances and a treadmill. Selling at 7:00 p.m.: two 12-guage shotguns, a New England Firearm and a JC Higgins. Connelly Realty, Robert J. Connelly Broker, will auction 177 acres in Owego, NY for the Estate of Mary Niznik on Saturday, June 24 2006 at noon, with an Open House the previous Saturday, June 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by appointment. Two adjoining parcels, with over 2500 feet of road frontage, will be sold as one. The 76 acre lot at 79 Katchuk Rd includes a house, barn, two out-buildings, a 1/4 acre pond and woods.
