Cameos for Valentines

As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk -- and in celebration of Valentine's Day 2007 -- the Connelly Gallery at 205 State St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711 will hold an exhibit and sale of 19th and early 20th century cameos The Perfect Gift for Your Valentine on Friday, February 2, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Enjoy special entertainment and treats with a Valentine's Day themeas you shop for your sweetheart. The exhibit consists of vintage shell cameos, most of which were carved near Naples, Italy. Many illustrate mythological themes, usually portraying a woman in profile. The cameos -- fashioned into brooches, rings, pendants, earrings, and hatpins -- are set in gold, silver, bakelite, plastic and other man-made materials.
