Art Walk Exhibit and Sale: 1939 World's Fair Russian Prints

As part of Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk the Connelly Gallery at 205 State St, Binghamton, NY 13901-2711The Connelly Gallery will hold an exhibit and sale of Vintage 1939 World's Fair Portfolios from the Soviet Union Pavilion on Friday, May 5, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Opening night visitors will be treated to a wine tasting of select California wines and a special presentation of vintage gifts for Mother's Day. The exhibit and sale of Russian prints will continue through May 26, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at other times by appointment (Telephone: 607-722-9593).

The collection of Russian prints in this exhibit consists of four hardbound portfolios -- each approximately 14 X 11 inches -- A Ride Through Moscow by Yuri Ivanovich Pimenov. Click for a slideshow. originally sold at the Pavilion of the Soviet Union at the 1939 World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, NY. Each portfolio is complete and contains all of the original prints in the set, including authorized copies of works from Leningrad's Russian Museum (Book 1), New Art by post-revolutionary Soviet masters (Book 2), works from the Hermitage (Book 3), and works from Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery. The prints represent a wide range of great Russian masters, including Valentin Serov, Yuri Ivanovich Pimenov, Alexander Alexandrovich Deineka, and Vassily Pukirev.
